China trip achieves close ties with 6 universities

Five faculty members and a higher education policy studies student from China, representing the IU School of Education, embarked on a four day trip to China this semester, hoping to build upon long-standing relationships with six Chinese universities.

Employees rake leaves, update lawn mowers for winter preparation

As the seasons at IU change from almost winter to winter, students are busy switching over to winter gear and teachers are preparing their classes for final exams. Mike Girvin, manager of the campus division of the physical plant of IU  and his crew are also getting ready for the first snowfall.

IU inventors develop more than just Crest toothpaste

Anybody who has gone on a guided tour of IU has probably heard the Crest story. Yes, IU invented Crest toothpaste. But there’s more. The thing you bite on for a dental X-ray? Invented at IU. Ever complain about Oncourse? IU invented that, too.

At stake: pride

This year’s 84th annual battle for the Old Oaken Bucket won’t feature any bowl-bound teams. Instead, pride will be the only thing at stake for IU (3-8, 1-6), something that is just fine with IU coach Bill Lynch. “Any time you have a rivalry game like this the last week of the season, no matter what has gone on before it, it’s a big football game,” the second-year coach said during his weekly press conference.

U.N. agrees to send 3,100 more peacekeepers to Congo

The U.N. Security Council unanimously agreed Thursday to send 3,100 more peacekeeping troops to Congo, while rebels said they remained committed to a pullback from the front lines despite an army attack.
