A pair of former IU men’s soccer defenders, Tommy Meyer and Chris Estridge, will both continue their soccer careers at the professional level after learning Thursday afternoon that they were selected in the first and second rounds, respectively, of the 2012 MLS Super Draft.

How Zeller's freshman campaign measures up to previous honoree

It’s no secret that the matchup of IU freshman forward Cody Zeller and Ohio State sophomore forward Jared Sullinger has garnered some headlines. Sullinger was named the 2011 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, while Zeller has already won the Big Ten Freshman of the Week award five times this season.

Coal Free IU ends week of action

On Friday morning, students of the organization Coal Free IU personally delivered bundles of petitions, consisting of over 5,000 signatures, to the office IU President Michael McRobbie. The petition demanded a transition off coal as an energy and heating source.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced last week that a new provision of the Affordable Care Act for electronic transfer funds will save up to an additional $4.5 billion in administrative costs for the health care field and insurance companies during the next 10 years.

Human trafficking becomes concern for Indianapolis

Senate Bill 4, which State Sen. Randy Head, R-Logansport, first proposed Jan. 4, is intended to tighten Indiana’s laws against human trafficking, specifically combating human traffickers expected to transport teenage prostitutes to Indianapolis for the Super Bowl on Feb. 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Hoosiers trail Gophers, 37-34, at halftime

With IU playing their first game since moving into the Associated Press top ten, the Hoosiers were down nine points to a Minnesota team that came in 0-4 in conference play. But an 8-0 IU rally got the Hoosiers back in it as they now trail 37-34 at halftime.
