More than 75 percent of international students at IU come from non-English speaking countries. Despite being told they're proficient by official University tests, some are still not prepared to learn in English when they arrive on campus.

Expanding diversity is the driving force behind international recruiting at IU. It's a balancing act between what is ideal what is fiscally possible. With finite resources, the University has moved away from personalized care for international students and toward a numbers race.

The IU softball team (19-20, 3-6) went 2-1 during the weekend against Penn State (8-23, 1-7 Big Ten) in its first Big Ten series played at Andy Mohr Field in the 2013 season.

Firearm discharge results in drug arrest

After an interview with Hembree, police determined the shooting to be accidental.Police were dispatched to an apartment on the 1300 block of South Walnut Street at about 5:30 p.m. Friday in reference to a man sustaining a gunshot wound to the knee, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Dana Cole said.

Parents face neglect charges

The parents of a 4-month-old girl were arrested and preliminarily charged with neglect Friday after allegedly failing to seek proper medical treatment for their baby, who had been suffering seizures.
