IU destroys Chicago St. 29-5

The Hoosiers demolished the Chicago State Cougars 29-5 Wednesday to improve to 13-7 on the season. IU put together an offensive display resulting in 29 runs off of 24 hits. On a day when the wind was blowing heavily out to all sides of the field, the Hoosier hitters took advantage. They combined for six home runs on the day, the highest output this season. Senior David Hughes led the way for IU with a three-run dinger in the third and another two-run shot in the fourth to give him five RBIs on the day. Senior Kevin Mahar hit a grand slam to mark a seven-run fourth inning, as well. The Hoosiers started relatively slow offensively with five runs in the first two innings, but then exploded. Hughes and senior Seth Bynum each had a pair of home runs to help start an eight-run third inning.

Former adviser criticizes Bush

SHANGHAI -- Sometimes courageous moral stances are cheap. For example, I will never buy a Humvee. They're wasteful, polluting, unsafe vehicles, and therefore I am firmly morally opposed to purchasing them. It's easy for me to follow my convictions. Yeah, you know me! (That was fun. OK, moving on.) Many years ago, I enjoyed reading. As a child, I would often go to the library with my parents, pick out a few books and quietly read while nestled in the little fort my brother Mike and I had in the back of our old house. The fort was a small Anne Frankish spot beneath a trap door and above a rarely-used concrete stairwell which led to the cellar.

U.S. Embassy closes in Emirates after threat

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Americans said they were staying vigilant after U.S. missions in the United Arab Emirates closed Wednesday following a threat, and the embassy in Saudi Arabia shut down for an hour on what turned out to be false rumors of an explosion in the capital.

Military recruiters on some college campuses have felt unwanted as of late, and the U.S. House of Representatives is taking action. The ROTC Military Recruiter Equal Access to Campus Act coerces universities into providing all employers, including the Pentagon, with equal access to students. The act threatens to remove federal funding from schools that do not comply.

Judge jails 2 more suspects in Madrid bombings

MADRID -- Wednesday a Spanish judge charged two more suspects, including the first woman, in connection with the Madrid, Spain, commuter-train bombings. The charges bring the number of those accused to 11 in the March 11 attacks killing at least 190 and wounded about 1,800.

Explosives found on French rail line

PARIS -- A French railroad worker found an explosive device buried in the bed of a passenger line between France and Switzerland Wednesday, the Interior Ministry said. Bomb disposal experts neutralized the device, which was half-buried under a track in the village of Montieramey, France, on a train line heading from Paris to Basel, Switzerland, about 105 miles southeast of Paris, the ministry said in a statement. It was discovered shortly after noon.

Reality shows have started a new wave of television in recent years, but how much of "Survivor" and "The Real World" is actually "reality" and how much is scripted?
