Sophomore Annica Loftstedt arrived in Bloomington for the first time on official move-in day last fall. The native of Sweden had never visited IU, had yet to completely master English and wasn't even sure where Bloomington was located on a map.

Daniels greets IU supporters

IUSA to support student voice on fee

Junior Abby Gibson is a self-proclaimed pastaphile. Whether it's fettuccine, linguini or rotini, she enjoys it all. "If I wasn't trying to be healthy, I'd eat pasta everyday," she said. But Gibson, 20, is trying to watch what she eats. While pasta used to be a weekly staple in Gibson's vegetarian diet, it's now become just a twice-a-month treat.

While communities across the country celebrate Columbus' arrival in the New World this week, many indigenous peoples of Latin America continue to protest the consequences of being conquered. In fact, Native American peoples of most Latin American countries have suffered political, economic and social disparities inflicted from 500 years of non-indigenous influences.

Students share helmet war-stories

Like a seat belt, helmets can be life-saving, as two students can attest, having experienced the damage and trauma a bike accident can cause. Senior Hannelore Meier broke her hand and received a concussion in a Sept. 13 bike accident when she hit another student next to Woodburn Hall. Because Meier wasn't wearing a helmet, she suffered a concussion.

National advice columnist visits IU

But if those people took a closer look, they would have realized they had just walked past nationally syndicated columnist Harlan Cohen, more famously known as the "Help Me, Harlan" guy.

Men's volleyball falls to Dayton in Classic

The fifth annual Hoosier Fall Classic preseason tournament gave volleyball teams from the Midwest the chance to shake out the rust accumulated during the offseason. Twenty-four teams from the Midwest came to Bloomington Saturday looking for their first tournament victory of the year.

IU gears up for championship run
