IU gunning for NCAA qualifying marks

·

This weekend, the IU track team will travel its full contingent of athletes to Notre Dame for the Meyo Invitational. Aside from the Big Ten face-off against Purdue and Ohio State two weeks ago, the meet is IU's first true test. The Meyo Invitational is a focal point of the season for most teams in attendance as the meet consistently produces NCAA qualifying marks. IU must show more tenacity to get the job done, IU head coach Randy Heisler said.

WonderLab presents mind-bending puzzle exhibit for all ages

·

Even the most seasoned puzzle fiends should be cautious of the mind-bending experiences that await them at WonderLab Museum of Science, Health and Technology. Twenty puzzles comprising the "Brain Teasers 2" exhibit are on display on the second floor of WonderLab, a touring exhibition that opened this week and is available through May 8. WonderLab is the only Indiana location on the current exhibition tour.

2 ranked teams fill IU's home weekend

·

Ask the IU men's tennis team, and the players will tell you: Middle Tennessee State is underrated. The No. 57 Blue Raiders invade Bloomington Saturday for a match-up of two ranked teams in the IU Tennis Center. But the No. 67 Hoosiers claim that a No. 57 ranking just doesn't do MTSU justice.

Hoosiers hope to start season strong

The clink of the aluminum bats and the snap of a pitch hitting a leather glove fills the air as the softball team practices in Mellencamp Pavillion. Spring is finally approaching and with the season opener just days away, the IU softball team is preparing for their 2005 season.

IU looks to protect 1976 undefeated season

·

Four wins. March 28, 1987. Dec. 4, 1993. Jan. 7, 2001. March 21, 2002. Four dates etched in IU's history. The games played on these days had one thing in common -- the Hoosiers knocked the nation's No. 1 team off its pedestal.

Why the patriots will win

·

The Patriots will win Super Bowl XXXIX, bank on it. Call the bookie and bet the farm, the car. Heck, bet the kids. New England has what it takes to win it all -- again.

Why the Eagles will win

·

Forget the numbers, the stats and the fact that Tom Brady has never lost in the postseason. Forget that Corey Dillon has made the best team in the NFL better. Forget that Bill Belichick is perhaps the best schemer of a coach to ever grace the NFL. Forget that Terrell Owens won't be 100 percent on Sunday. Heck, forget that the Patriots are a better team than the Eagles. Philadelphia will win the Super Bowl because this is the year of the underdog. The year of the dynasty killers.

Attacks around Iraq claim 30

·

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Once again, the highway to Baghdad airport was a scene of mayhem: a mangled vehicle hit by a suicide blast, a helicopter ferrying away casualties. With the airport freshly reopened following landmark elections, insurgents were back in action Thursday on one of Iraq's deadliest roads.

Everyone loves a Latin boy

US and Elle Girl magazines showed them off in fashion features, and Esquire magazine said, "We'd wear tshirthell.com" T-shirts. Hmm, I wonder if they meant the shirt about arresting black babies.

Racism's many colors

·

Now it's time to drop the bomb -- the racism bomb. But I'm not concerned strictly with black-white issues. The structure of racism -- both real and imagined -- is far more complex than that, especially in this country.

Heard, loud and unclear

·

Working in the news business can get you in trouble. When you spell a name wrong, there's trouble. When you appear to be biased, there's lots of trouble. If you get a story just plain wrong, you deserve whatever trouble you get.
