Second music school thief sentenced

Suspect pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor theft

IUPD Lt. Jerry Minger said the debit card, along with a bookbag, was taken from a practice room in the School of Music.\nCourt documents indicate St. Jacques was initially charged with fraud and receiving stolen property, in addition to three counts of theft. \nMinger said during the time of the thefts, extra security measures were taken in and around the music school.\n"This case was in conjunction with the string of suspicious activity at the music facilities," Minger said. "This was just one operation where we tried to target the smaller thefts in hopes we could find the main suspect."\nSchool of Music Dean Gwyn Richards said the thefts created a negative atmosphere in the music school.\nMinger said detectives set up a closed-circuit TV in response to the thefts in addition to advising officers to make extra patrol stops around the music facilities.\nThis sentence is the second in last year's string of thefts at the music school.\nLast week, Kayliff Marvin Bradlee Bennett, a former janitor, was sentenced to one year in jail and two years of home detention for multiple thefts at the School of Music.
