Playing in a World Cup is something that many soccer players all over the world dream of doing one day. But this dream is a feat that is commonplace in the Sarkodie household where brothers Kofi and Ofori live. Both play for the U.S. Men’s U-17 and U-20 World Cup teams, respectively.

With armed conflict plaguing Africa and much of the Middle East and political unrest in many regions, it seems reasonable that the more powerful and stable nations would take the lead, doing all things possible to keep the world’s problems from erupting into a doomsday scenario of some kind.

Well, it’s about time! After months of deliberation, IU has selected the Connect-ED communication service to provide a security notification system, known as IU-Notify, to inform students of campus security concerns. In the event of an emergency situation like the shooting that occurred at Virginia Tech in the spring, students will promptly be notified by “voice messages to home, work and cell phones; text messages to cell phones, PDAs and other devices; written messages to e-mail accounts; and messages to teletypewriters and telecommunication devices (TTY/TDD) for the hearing impaired,” according to a press release.

I don’t like to cry wolf. I see absolutely no racism or discrimination involved in any of O.J. Simpson’s multiple arrests over the years. That goes for the charges against him for the murders of his estranged wife and her boyfriend, and his latest charges of burglary, kidnapping and assault in Las Vegas.

Airports have been getting a bad rap lately, what with all the plane delays and foot-tapping routines in public restrooms. In better days, they were a good place to catch up with the latest issue of People magazine. Now, they are fast becoming battlegrounds over mundane things like the establishment clause. Last year, the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport removed all Christmas trees in the display areas after a local rabbi insisted on putting up an electronic menorah.

While three players were at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Okla., junior Peter Antons and freshmen Santiago Gruter and Jai Yoon traveled north for the Tom Fallon Invitational at Notre Dame. The three Hoosiers compiled a singles record of 6-6 and a doubles record of 3-5 on the weekend.
