A birthday at Briscoe fit for a King

Birthday cheers could be heard echoing from Briscoe Quad Thursday night in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Briscoe Student Government and resident assistants hosted a birthday party to recognize the life and legacy of King. Monday will be the 40th anniversary honoring King and his work.

Buskirk to host ‘sex party’

Apparently, the Bloomington community is not experiencing a sexual dry spell. This is certainly the belief of junior Alex Pyatetsky, the host of this evening’s event, “People Are Still Having Sex.”

First finalist for SPEA dean to visit

The first of four finalists for the position of dean of the School of Public and Environmental Affairs will be in Bloomington Tuesday, said Lauren Robel, dean of the School of Law and chair of the search committee.

BPD reports more than 60 burglaries during break

Bloomington Police Department Capt. Joe Qualters said Bloomington had 64 burglaries between Dec. 15 and Jan. 7, a number that includes businesses and multiple burglaries in an apartment complex.

After a short break from match play and grueling winter workouts, the IU men’s tennis team bounced back into form with a very impressive performance at Clemson over winter break.

The IU wrestling team has everything it needs to be successful. The box is open and the puzzle is out on the table. Now it’s just a matter of making everything fit before conference play begins.

Hoosiers rally late to beat Minnesota

In just two years at IU, Lance Stemler has played several roles. Last year he played the victim, sustaining a concussion after he was accidentally kicked in the head by former teammate Xavier Keeling during practice. He needed surgery after last season when he injured his ankle. He was booed by IU fans earlier this season for a slow start. On Thursday, Stemler played the hero.

Study: Too much popcorn could be dangerous

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Sitting down with a bowl of popcorn and a movie is a great way to end a long week of classes, but students are thinking twice about it after a Denver man revealed he probably contracted bronchiolitis obliterans from munching on a bag of microwavable popcorn almost daily.
