Spider-man and Obama appear together in comic

Museum’s ‘Coffeehouse Nights’ features free music, food, drink

Visitors at the IU Art Museum silently contemplate the artwork in its stoic halls during the day, and in the early evening, the lights usually shut off as the museum closes. But this month, the museum will stay open until 9 p.m. for Coffeehouse Nights, a series of three lively nights of coffee, art, dance and music.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Facing another opponent firing on all cylinders, Ohio State dismantled IU for the Hoosiers seventh loss in a row by a score of 77-53. This marks the team's longest losing streak since 1964.

Recruiters could leave Kelley if diversity doesn't improve

With the black and Hispanic population at under 3 percent at the Kelley School of Business, recruiters warned Dean Daniel Smith of leaving last year. Now students have teamed up to create a Diversity Council that would make minorities feel more welcome at Kelley.

After seven years at the helm in Indianapolis, Colts coach Tony Dungy announced his retirement Monday. Students honored his abilities as a coach, but also praised Dungy's work to better his community. IU first-year graduate student David Hughes was impressed by Dungy, calling him the best Colts coach ever.“I don’t think we’ve ever had as good of a coach as Tony Dungy,” Hughes said. IU searches for leaders as it preps for Buckeyes

As the season progresses and losses continue to mount for the Hoosiers, IU coach Tom Crean has often said the main problem with a young team is the lack of a true leader. When things have gone south, as they did against Illinois on Saturday, Crean said the Hoosiers need to find a confident player to help guide the squad out of slumps.Complicating matters even more for Crean is the uncertainty of the status of junior Devan Dumes, one of the more confident shooters on the team. Dumes left the Illinois game with a sprained ankle, and Crean said the team is in wait-and-see mode for Tuesday’s battle against Ohio State.

Wild NFL postseason continues

Did anyone really see this coming? The top three seeds in the NFL’s NFC have been bounced from playoff contention. On the other side, Tennessee’s top spot in the AFC meant nothing as a rookie quarterback downed the Titans to accomplish something no other rookie has done – win two playoff games. Back in the NFC, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is making phone calls for penalties, and the Arizona Cardinals – yes, the Arizona freakin’ Cardinals – will play host to the NFC title game.

Ohio: the home of 2 different Hoosiers

Eric Arnett and Tom Pritchard probably could not be more different. Pritchard is the new face of IU basketball, a loyal, late-blooming commit who weathered the storm that was Kelvin Sampson and is now a likely Big Ten Freshman of the Year candidate. He’s a blossoming post presence Tom Crean may rely on for years to come. Arnett won’t even be on the basketball team another week. Brought on in the fall as an extra body in practice, Arnett makes his real living as a pitcher on the IU baseball team, and a rather accomplished one at that. Arnett could dress but not play this year for the Hoosiers, who didn’t want to count another scholarship against their limit. He’ll return to the baseball team following tonight’s game at Ohio State.

IU professor receives natl. book award

IU professor in rhetoric and public culture John Lucaites received three national scholarly awards for his book “No Caption Needed: Iconic Photographs, Public Culture and Liberal Democracy,” which he wrote with Northwestern University professor Robert Hariman. The book analyzes the relationships between photography, visual culture and liberal democracy. The the book took nearly nine years to complete.
