Lucien R. McRobbie, son of IU President Michael McRobbie, was arrested Saturday and faces preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
A resident assistant in the McNutt Quad smelled the marijuana smoke and contacted the IU police department, IUPD Capt. Jerry Minger said, reading from a police report.
The police determined that the room it was coming from was Lucien’s room, and received a search warrant to investigate the room and found the marijuana, Minger said.
“As for the University, all students who are arrested in Bloomington are referred to the Dean of Students for a disciplinary hearing,” IU spokesman Larry MacIntyre said.
The freshman will be treated just like another student in this situation, MacIntyre said.
“The McRobbie family considers it a private matter,” MacIntyre said.
