Skulls house to go on sale April 17, to be sold for highest bid

The house owned by Chi Phi fraternity has been decreed for a sheriff’s sale. Currently, the house is rented to the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, commonly known as Skulls. Chi Phi lived in the house until the fall 2008 semester after membership levels became too low to financially sustain the house.

IU looks to expand, increase diversity

The number of underrepresented minorities – which includes IU’s black, Hispanic and Native American populations – on Bloomington’s campus is supposed to double by the 2013-14 school year, IU officials said. In May 2006, IU’s board of trustees voted in favor of a measure making the increase official.

RHA documents detail election code violations

The Hoosier Compass ticket violated seven election codes during the Residence Halls Association elections March 3, according to an RHA Elections Commission document, but two complaints filed by the ticket against the Chuck Norris ticket were denied.

Bloomington arts council celebrates 35 years

In celebration of the Bloomington Area Arts Council’s  35th birthday, the council has planned 35 “unbirthday” parties between January and September, said Steve Pierson, office manager for the council.

Free art-focused seminars offered to creative community

The first in a series of “webinars” administered by Americans for the Arts will be held at 2 p.m. today in City Hall. The webinars, part of Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District’s initiative to offer entrepreneurial and educational opportunities to the creative community, are free and open to the public.

Concert promotes suicide prevention and awareness

Suicide is the third-leading cause of death for Americans ages 15 to 24, largely because most people don’t want to talk about it, said Kyle Ferguson, president and founding member of the Alive Campaign, a grassroots organization created to raise awareness about and prevent suicides.

Holi Indian festival celebrates end of winter festival

The Indian end-of-winter Holi festival is coming to IU. The Asian Culture Center will start the celebration of the Holi festival at 6 p.m. today at the center, according to an ACC press release.

Behind excellent pitching from junior Chris Squires and nine home runs, the Hoosiers did just that in a dominating 18-3 victory. Squires pitched six innings, giving up five hits and only three earned runs on Tuesday.

Organizations hope to tie business to Little 500

While most students spend the week of Little 500 at happy hour and themed parties, serious business students have the opportunity to compete in a different kind of race. Through the conjunction of Women in Business and business fraternities Alpha Kappa Psi and Delta Sigma Pi, the first-ever Kelley 500 case competition will take place from the first week of April through April 18.

Brown’s attitude deserves recognition
