Barnard Sisters play benefit show for New Buddhist Monestary

The leaders of the DGTL are raising funds to begin construction on a new, ecologically sustainable center at 2150 E. Dolan Rd. for learning about and practicing Buddhism.The first of many fundraising events was a concert by the Barnard Sisters on Aug. 8.

Junior wide receiver Tandon Doss has recently been named to the 2010 Biletnikoff Award Watch List. He is the fourth Hoosier in five years to be honored, with former Hoosiers James Hardy named to the list in both 2006 and 2007 and Andrew Means named in 2008.

Freshman Ashik Shah of Fishers, Ind., hauls a suitcase up the stairs Monday to his new room in Ashton Center. His father, mother and brother helped Ashik carry his television, food and other dorm necessities up to his room on the first floor. Although Wednesday is the official move-in day, students can move in to their on-campus homes as early as Sunday.

IU soccer barely avoids shut out

Senior midfielder Daniel Kelly netted the Hoosiers’ lone goal with less than six minutes to play and narrowly avoided being shut out Sunday at Bill Armstrong Stadium. IU fell to Xavier, 2-1, in the their first exhibition game of the season.

Bloomington woman to undergo controversial MS surgery

Cynthia Ashworth came to Bloomington from Colorado to receive a doctoral degree in medieval studies at IU. She taught entry-level English courses and had dreams of going back out West to teach once she completed her doctorate. She woke up one morning to discover that she could not get out of bed to go to her choir rehearsal.
