Local band ready for Bloomington

Accompanied by a slide guitar and a banjo, IU freshman Peter Oren introduced his new band as “Lil’ Wayne, Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj” because the band has yet to settle on a name. However, the audience said he sounded a little less Weezy and a little more Johnny Cash with his high-strapped acoustic guitar and deep voice.

Helmer not fazed by expectations for IU squad

Going into the NCAA Indoor Championships Friday in Texas, IU brings three students who recently earned Great Lakes Athlete of the Year honors, in addition to Helmer, who was named Great Lakes Coach of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
