I got to thinking the other day that if we as students are subject to midterms, those in higher powers should be as well. Some of these grades for the IU Athletics Department are given on the basis of effort, but the more crucial ones, such as recruiting, for example, are given by the numbers alone.

Strong first inning wins it for Hoosiers

Getting off to fast starts is one of the points of emphasis for the IU baseball team, as it stands two days away from its Big Ten opener against Michigan. The Hoosiers (15-8) took a step in that direction Tuesday with a four-run, four-hit opening frame in a 7-3 win against Division II Northern Kentucky (12-9) at Sembower Field.

Senior Dave Segedy is a soft-spoken fine arts student whose musical tendencies are the backbone of local group Sleeping Bag. Segedy, along with Lewis Rogers and David Woodruff, make up the trio that has been together since summer 2010.

IU Art Museum through 7-year-old's eyes

Chandler is visiting the IU Art Museum with his mother, Tara Deppert, and his 11-year-old brother, Quinton Deppert. He is a curious, energetic and loud almost 7-year-old. He explores the museum and is curious about all of the ancient artifacts he sees. Chandler allows his imagination to wander, and the context of the pieces do not impact his thoughts as they do for many adults.

Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of former president George W. Bush, will speak at 7:30 p.m. in the Whittenberger Auditorium of the Indiana Memorial Union. The author, teacher and news correspondent is presented by Union Board as part of IU’s Women’s History Month celebration.
