Parents of missing student Lauren Spierer invite searchers to reunion

The parents of missing IU student Lauren Spierer are inviting those who have helped search for their daughter to a “searcher’s reunion” this weekend. Called “Laps for Lauren,” the event will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, at Woodlawn Field on campus.

In 1911, surrounded by racism and segregation, 10 men founded the first black fraternity at IU — one of the first of its kind in the country. One hundred years later, an estimated 3,000 men and their families gathered in Dunn Meadow to celebrate the fraternity’s centennial.

Cause of HPER fire could be related to construction, officials say

A fire that broke out at the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation on Tuesday is believed to be related to construction that was taking place on the roof of the Ora L. Wildermuth Intramural Center, IU spokesman Mark Land said.
