Volunteers give Hoosiers second loss of season

A week after getting throttled by No. 6 Duke, the No. 44 IU women’s tennis team came close to upsetting No. 11 Tennessee Saturday, losing 5-2 in Knoxville, Tenn.

Team goes 3-1 in weekend tournament

The No. 45 IU men’s tennis team went 3-1 on the weekend, beating Illinois State, Central Florida and Toledo but falling 4-2 to No. 24 Oklahoma.

In the Kajikawa Classic, which was played Thursday thru Sunday, the Hoosiers beat Nevada and Cal Poly while losing to No. 2 Arizona, Texas Tech and No. 12 California.

Anger gives cinema audience happy ending

Experimental filmmaker Kenneth Anger had a bonus for the packed IU Cinema Friday night: three recent short films that he brought with him from his home in California. The 84-year-old director is widely considered one of the most influential underground filmmakers in history. His lecture recounted his friendship with Alfred Kinsey, his filmmaking methods and his lifelong sense of humor.

Fire department, IUPD respond to car fire

At about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, the IU Police Department and Bloomington Fire Department responded to a 911 call from someone who saw a car on fire in front of Collins Living-Learning Center.
