Summer, for me, is the only time of year when I’m able to sit around and do nothing, or, preferably, sit around and read things that are not textbooks or the other endless academic readings I print several forests’ worth off Oncourse every semester.

Recent IU graduate Margaux Farrell has already punched her ticket to this summer’s Olympics, but she might not be the last Hoosier swimmer that makes it to London. Farrell will swim for the French team, but starting Monday, 16 current and former IU swimmers will attempt to make the United States team at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.

All 24 IU athletic teams exceeded the NCAA's Academic Progress Rate standard of 900 for 2010-2011, while seven IU programs received a perfect APR score of 1,000 for the 2010-2011 academic year.

The NCAA changed the way men’s college basketball coaches recruit when it lifted limits on phone contact from coaches to the student-athletes they are courting.

Hutton grant funds overseas study

The Department of Education released a new round of statistics from its College Affordability and Transparency Center, showing IU’s tuition increases are below the national average. For average net price — tuition and fees minus average student financial aid package — IU sits just above the national average.

Police apprehend man who shot 2 at swimming pool

Indiana's economy continues steady, modest recovery, report finds

Indiana’s economy is on a steady but modest climb back to pre-recession levels, according to last month’s report from the Leading Index for Indiana, which monitors changes in the general direction of the Indiana economy. The LII monitors key industries that are important to Indiana in order to index the state’s economy to a numerical value.
