Higher Education Commissioner Teresa Lubbers led the Indiana's first State of Higher Education address Wednesday night, calling for increased graduation rates in higher education.

IU women eye another upset of No. 23 Huskers

On Dec. 5, 2010, the last time senior forward Aulani Sinclair played against Nebraska at Assembly Hall, the unranked Hoosiers knocked off the then-No. 19 Cornhuskers 67-61. It will be much more of a challenge for Sinclair to repeat that feat as a banged-up IU plays No. 23 Nebraska at 6:30 p.m.Thursday in Assembly Hall.

Virtuosi to play Carnegie Hall

Virtuosi, a group of 21 of the Jacobs School of Music’s String Academy’s best violonists, violists and cellists, ages 12 to 18, will perform at 7:30 p.m. March 11 in Carnegie Hall in New York.

Women's tennis on track for 11th Herbert Cup

The women’s tennis team will likely win its 11th Herbert Cup, which honors the IU athletic team with the highest cumulative GPA from the previous semester, IU Coach Lin Loring said.

Todd Yeagley named coach of the year

The IU men’s soccer team won its eighth national championship 29 days ago. Soccer America named IU Coach Todd Yeagley as NCAA Division I Coach of the Year.

Big Ten leaders meet at IU to discuss policy

IU Student Association will lead the Association of Big Ten Schools conference, a gathering for the executives of student body governments from Big Ten universities. The conference will run Friday through Sunday.

IU rated as No. 4 value

IU came in at No. 39, one spot higher than last year’s ratings, on a 2013 list of Best Public College Values recently released by Kiplinger. The new rankings also place IU fourth in value within Big Ten schools.
