Samples shake down Bluebird

Sean Kelly still remembers the first time he drove through Indiana. He remembers it so vividly, in fact, that he wrote a song about it. And last night, in the dark caverns of Bluebird Nightclub, the echoes of frontman Kelly's band, the Samples, still rang throughout the building nearly an hour after they left the stage.

It's been one heck of a ride. This week marks our final one as arts editors at the IDS. The arts section has certainly seen a multitude of events this semester. From the opening of the new Theatre and Drama Center to the 30th anniversary of the IU Soul Revue, from the Cabaret Nouveau Series at the Bloomington Playwrights Project to three IU alumni performing in "Annie Get Your Gun" at the IU Auditorium, the arts section has been there.

House OKs accounting oversight bill

WASHINGTON -- The House on Wednesday adopted Enron-inspired legislation to tighten oversight of the accounting industry and toughen corporate disclosure rules. The vote was 334-90, with some Democrats accusing House Republican leaders of bowing to financial interests by passing a weak bill.

But April brings an abrupt end to the celebration, giving rise to concerns that we -- as feminists and a society in general -- are suffering a setback. April salsa sales to fight child abuse
