Nudity? At a strip club? Stop the insanity! A Boise strip club called Erotic City thought it had found a way around Idaho's anti-nudity law when it instated "Art Night," a weekly event when patrons were provided with pencils and sketch pads for drawing the dancers, a few months ago. Idaho law states that full nudity is only allowed in instances of "serious artistic merit."

Imagine David Horowitz throwing pies into the audience during his speech. As a guest on our campus, he might figure that the best way to get his point across would be to chuck coconut cream at anyone who asked a question he didn't like.

New Abraham Lincoln museum stirs debate

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- In most museums, Abraham Lincoln is discussed in hushed voices and illustrated with sepia-toned photos and marble statues that give him a saintly air. The new Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum doesn't buy into that reverence. It brings Lincoln to life with booming cannons, holographic ghosts and latex statues so lifelike the arms have freckles. It shakes visitors up and shows them all sides of the former president.

'Coquette' a venue for creative flair

The Ralph Laurens and Donatella Versaces of tomorrow aren't in New York -- they're in Bloomington. Aspiring fashion designers showcased their work at the Coquette Fashion Show, which took place on Friday at Alumni Hall in the Memorial Union. Eight students participated in three categories -- runway, portfolio and accessories.

Horowitz speech sparks protests

Receiving standing ovations and loud "boos" simultaneously is nothing new to political activist David Horowitz, who spoke Thursday night at the IU Auditorium. Horowitz, whose speech was sponsored by the Union Board and the IU College Republicans, was heard by people of many different political backgrounds from the IU and Bloomington community.

2 women challenge stereotypes in sorority

Blue and yellow, the colors of Sigma Gamma Rho Incorporated, dominate the scheme of junior Hannah Jones' room. A collage of T-shirts, picture frames, blue and yellow shoes and even a Sigma Gamma Rho doormat reflects the importance of Jones' membership in her traditionally black sorority.

Relay For Life doubled donations from last year

Relay For Life, the signature fund-raising event of the American Cancer Society, will take place Saturday and Sunday at IU. The 20-hour continuous event will help raise funds to battle cancer and honor cancer survivors.

UITS to unveil new Webmail, Oncourse

WOMEN: Kappa Kappa Gamma weathers talented field to win Team Pursuit, spring series championship

The dreary weather wasn't perfect, but the scene was perfectly set for a battle between two cycling titans -- Kappa Kappa Gamma and Kappa Alpha Theta. The gun fired to start the final race, and Theta kept it close for almost the entire first half. But despite qualifying in second place, Kappa eventually pulled away, cruising easily to a Team Pursuit win and a spring series championship.

IU road trip full of Big Ten match-ups

After losing a heartbreaker Wednesday afternoon at Louisville, the IU softball team will continue its five-game road trip this weekend against Illinois and Iowa. Wednesday's game against the Cardinals went into extra innings before Louisville shortstop Courtney Moore hit a game-winning home run to left field in the bottom of the ninth inning.

IU students to give local middle schoolers taste of 'reality'

Indianapolis meet may mean a state title

The Hoosiers have a chance to claim their first state title, when they face Notre Dame, Purdue and Butler tomorrow for the Indiana Cup on Eagle Creek in Indianapolis. In a separate contest, IU also will take on the Irish and Louisville. The Indiana Cup entitles rowers on the winning team in this uncelebrated sport to stand tiptoe on any misty morning wherever they want -- all around the Hoosier State, that is.

IU to take on OSU, No. 31 ND

IU will play host to Ohio State at 4 p.m. Friday and Notre Dame at 10 a.m. Sunday, but the match against the Irish is looking to be closer than close. "We'll be favored against Ohio State. They have some injuries -- they're kind of having a down year," said IU coach Lin Loring. "Notre Dame should be a really close match." The statistics back up Loring's analysis.

Wild Women of Midwest flock to Bloomington

Calamity Jane, the IU women's ultimate frisbee club team, will play host to the Wild Women of the Midwest tournament this weekend. The tournament will start 10 a.m. Saturday and continue at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Evan Williams Field on the corner of 10th Street and the 45/46 Bypass and at North Fee Lane Fields at 17th Street and Fee Lane.

Hoosiers look for 7 straight wins at OSU

If the IU men's tennis team wants to keep its streak alive, players are going to have to earn it. Winners of their last six matches, the Hoosiers will face what could be their toughest test in a month, when they travel to Columbus, Ohio, to face the No. 33-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. IU will look to continue its strong play from top to bottom, a balance that has keyed the Hoosiers' surge in recent weeks.

Players welcome new IU assistant

The IU men's soccer team announced the hiring of a new volunteer assistance coach Tuesday on the heels of the team hosting the Midwest Soccer Coaches Symposium this weekend. As the featured event to the symposium, IU plays St. Louis University in the team's third spring friendly at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Bill Armstrong Stadium. David Giffard joins IU after working for five years under former IU player and assistant coach Mike Getman at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

IU begins West Coast swing

The outdoor track season is finally in full swing, and the men's team is set to begin its quest for fast times on the West Coast beginning this weekend with the Pepsi Invitational in Eugene, Ore. Hoosiers travel to historic track venue in Oregon

The Hoosiers head out west for the Pepsi Invitational Saturday hosted by University of Oregon. The scored quadrangle meet will put IU against Oregon, University of Missouri and University of Washington.

Little Fifty event gives big race a 'run' for its money

Legs will start to make their way around the track in a warm-up to Little 500. But these legs are not peddling bicycles tomorrow, they are moving the bodies of the runners participating in the third-annual Little Fifty running race. Little Fifty involves teams comprised of four runners completing 50 laps at the Haugh Track and Field Complex. One runner from each team completes a lap, and then that runner is allowed to hand off with another teammate, similarly to how riders in the Little 500 make bike exchanges.
