Crowded Bloomington city buses survey options

During the first month of school, Bloomington Transit buses carried more students in one month than they ever have before, said Lew May, Bloomington Transit general manager. “September was the very first time in (Bloomington Transit) history to break the 300,000 person mark for a month,” May said. Bloomington Transit’s numbers for 2007 have gone up eight and a half percent since 2006. Since 2005, ridership increased 10 percent, May said.

IU hosts Purdue today at home on short week

The IU volleyball team will face in-state rival Purdue at 8 p.m. today in the University Gym. The Boilermakers (12-7, 5-3) come to Bloomington riding a three-game winning streak and standing in first place in the Big Ten in average digs per game. The rivalry will be the first mid-week matchup for the Hoosiers this season. With less time to prepare for Purdue, coach Sherry Dunbar said the team utilized what practice time they had.

No. 4 Notre Dame to host No. 12 IU

Rarely does a season get easier as it progresses, and that certainly is not the case for the IU men’s soccer team. After knocking off No. 9 Northwestern, the Hoosiers head north to South Bend to take on No. 4 Notre Dame on Wednesday in the final of three consecutive road games. Junior midfielder Brad Ring said he is looking forward to a good showing from the Hoosiers, despite some of the recent tough losses.
