MUMBAI, India – A 60-hour terror rampage across India's financial capital ended Saturday when commandos killed the last three gunmen holed up in a luxury hotel engulfed in flames. At least 195 people died.

Feds warn of terror plotting against NYC subways

WASHINGTON – Federal authorities are warning law enforcement personnel of a possible terror plot against the New York City subway system during the holiday season. An internal memo obtained by The Associated Press says the FBI has received a "plausible but unsubstantiated" report that al-Qaida terrorists in late September might have discussed attacking the subway system.

LAHAINA, HAWAII — After their second blowout loss in as many days, IU coach Tom Crean said his team is disappointed, but not discouraged.The Hoosiers (2-2) lost 80-54 to Saint Joseph’s (2-2) Tuesday in the second round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational. The two teams played tight game in the first half before the Hawks blew the game open in the second period.

OPINION: Greenspan navigates Hoosiers from further problems

Rick Greenspan saved his best performance for last.With just little over a month left in his tenure as IU Director of Athletics, Greenspan led the effort to prevent the men’s basketball program from additional significant penalties by the NCAA Committee on Infractions stemming from rules violations by former men’s coach Kelvin Sampson and his staff.

NCAA levies probation on IU

The NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions placed IU on a probationary period starting Tuesday.The reprimand comes down after the NCAA found former men's basketball coach Kelvin Sampson and staff made recruiting violations, to which the University improperly monitored.    PDF: NCAA report on recruiting violations    AUDIO: Crean responds to NCAA reportThe probationary period will last three years, ending November 24, 2011.According to a report released from the committee, per the probation the University must create a "comprehensive educational program on NCAA legislation." This includes seminars and testing to instruct all athletics department personnel and University staff members "with responsibility for the certification of student-athletes for admission, retention, financial aid or competition."

The NCAA Committee on Infractions announced today that it will hand down its decision regarding the IU men’s basketball team’s case, with a 4 p.m. teleconference scheduled for today.

The windows had been boarded up for weeks. The paint, once a vibrant crimson, had now faded and was chipping away on the exterior. The roof, deteriorated. The walls inside of the building were in equally bad shape, a combination of neglect and lack of maintenance.
