$15m gift to boost Kelley building expansion

As part of an effort to raise $60 million to renovate and expand undergraduate facilities at the Kelley School of Business, a $15 million donation to the school aims to jumpstart that campaign.

Love-You-Gram actors bring romance back to town

Love-You-Grams, a fundraiser of the playwrights project, featured live poetry performances by trained actors and actresses sent from one friend or lover to another, and deliveries startled many recipients all over Bloomington Feb. 13 and 14.



Visitors look at a pickle jar art lighting installment by Chicago professional artist Jason Kravarty during the display's opening Friday evening in the McCalla School at 10th Street and Indiana Avenue. The lighting, which is run on a 15,000 high volt low amp power box, will stay on display for two weeks.

Student reports rape in campus lot

An IU student told Kentucky police Saturday she was raped in the White Lot at IU’s Memorial Stadium. Kentucky State Police contacted IU Police Department at 3:30 a.m. Feb. 14 about a woman who reported she was raped in the parking lot at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 12, according to a press release.

Cause, effect and milliseconds

Tragic stories have surfaced in the aftermath of the plane crash near Buffalo last Thursday. The plane dove into a house and 50 lives were lost, including a person inside the home. A list of the passengers and a short biography about each are featured on the ABC News Web site. Each story and photograph is more heartbreaking than the last, and it’s emotionally draining to read the statements made by the friends and loved ones of the victims.

The educator crunch

IU and Ivy Tech Community College came to an agreement last week on a new credit transfer deal. Credit transfer programs already exist for nursing, criminal justice and six liberal arts degrees. The new deal added elementary education to the list, allowing Ivy Tech students who have earned an associate’s degree in elementary education to be able to transfer those credits to IU.

For the love of the holiday

Like Christmas, Valentine’s Day has always been a holiday that I have not gotten into. I have never been one of those girls in good enough graces to have a boyfriend this time of the year, so I have traditionally felt that the candy hearts and roses did not pertain to me.
