3 residents arrested for meth, children in custody

Three youths were given to child protective services Tuesday afternoon after their guardian, among three Bloomington residents, was arrested upon police findings of methamphetamine, syringes and methamphetamine cooking devices at a local residence.

I’m thankful that I live in a country where people are free to express their views and question authority. When I see a gaggle of 50-somethings on CNN toting silly hats and large, colorful posters, I chuckle and then appreciate that such a thing is allowed in the United States.

What else was repealed in the DADT repeal bill?

Here are some of the best programs that were also blocked. Last week, the Senate Republicans successfully filibustered a Defense Appropriations authorization that, among other things, would have given the Department of Defense the authority to choose whether or not to repeal the controversial "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy which bars gay individuals from serving openly in the armed services. The DADT component of the bill received, by far, the most coverage. But within the Defense authorization bill were dozens of other programs that were killed alongside the DADY repeal.

Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute (SETI), said he believes humans will discover aliens within 25 years. He cites the Drake Equation, a formula that tries to determine the number of alien societies capable of contacting Earth, as evidence.
