IU moves Brown Co. Playhouse program

A little more than a year after the Little Nashville Opry concert hall burnt to the ground, the town in southern Indiana is dealing with another disappointing loss. IU has ceased production on the summer theater program in the Brown County Playhouse to move it to on-campus facilities in Bloomington.

Bloomington man faces preliminary charge of incest

Charles S. Hazelbaker, age 53, faces a preliminary charge of incest after allegedly having intercourse with a relative of his since she was 15 years old, according to a probable cause affidavit from BPD Detective Richard Kruzan.

Health care bill brings higher taxes on tanning services

Some tanning salons have begun to feel burnt by a new tax.   The federal government implemented a 10 percent excise  tax on indoor tanning services on July 1 in order to help pay for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which was signed into law on March 23.

Rugby team returns with veteran squad

The IU men’s rugby team finished second in the Midwest East Conference Championships in 2009, and this year the Mudsharks are looking to capture the title through hard work and sweat.

IU Student Association Congress approved a $97,996 operating budget for the 2010-11 school year at a meeting Tuesday and tabled a motion to appoint junior Hannah Kinkead to a vacant Supreme Court seat.
