County to fix cracked courthouse dome glass

Inside the Monroe County Courthouse, ceilings in some rooms are still missing and carpet is yet to be laid. But renovation on the historic building, which began September 2011, is nearing completion. However, workers recently discovered a problem. Two panes in a 100-year-old stained glass window beneath the building’s dome are cracked.

Johnson drafted by White Sox, Martin by Cubs

With the 291st pick of the Major League Baseball first-year player draft, the Chicago White Sox use their ninth round pick on IU junior second baseman Micah Johnson and Indiana senior right-handed pitcher Chad Martin was select in the tenth round (314th overall) by the Chicago Cubs.

Patterson scores 14 in tune-up game for Indiana-Kentucky Senior All-Star Series

2012 IU Men's Basketball commit Ron Patterson scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 2-of-4 on threes, to help the Indiana Senior All-Star team fend off an energetic Junior All-Star team 104-97 Monday at the Lloyd Scott Gymnasium in Seymour, Ind.Patterson added three assists, four rebounds and two steals to lead the trio of 2012 IU commits on the Senior team. Jeremy Hollowell struggled from the field, scoring just 5 points on 1-for-7 shooting, while Ferrell scored 11 and grabbed seven rebounds but struggled running the point, committing six turnovers to one assist.

After wowing fans on the other side of the world, The Main Squeeze returned June 2 to the Bluebird Nightclub to show off the self-titled album it spent months completing.

Man reportedly robbed at gunpoint at Varsity Villas

A 19-year-old man reported to the Bloomington Police Department he was robbed at gunpoint between midnight and 1 a.m. Saturday outside a Varsity Villas apartment on the 400 block of East Varsity Lane.

105 Hoosiers named to All-Big Ten Academic team

The Big Ten announced Thursday that 105 Hoosier student-athletes were named to the conference’s Spring and At-Large Sports All-Academic team. The number puts IU fourth — behind Ohio State, Minnesota and Penn State — among the conference’s 12 member schools.

Visit Bloomington grant program encourages local events, tourism

In order to promote tourism in the Bloomington area, Visit Bloomington has announced the continuation of its Marketing Grant program, which will provide up to $35,000 in marketing funds for local festivals and events in 2013.
