Indiana once again has a second recruit for the class of 2010. Will Sheehey, the No. 131 recruit in the class of 2010, just confirmed that he will be playing his collegiate basketball at IU. Sheehey had offers from George Washington and Syracuse and was also receiving interest from Georgia Tech and Michigan.
Then IU men’s basketball team will travel to Puerto Rico on Tuesday, where they will play three games in four days. At the end of the Puerto Rico Tip-off on Sunday, the Hoosiers will have played a total of five games in 10 days. For that reason, staying fresh will be critical for IU coach Tom Crean’s squad as they dive deeper into this grueling week.
IU began the its regular season with a dunk and ended in a blowout win.
Freshman forward Derek Elston’s game didn’t hinge on his performance Friday. It began well before the big heads, crimson fleeces or screaming fans worked their way into Assembly Hall.
A team with three new starters was down by five points with two minutes left in their season opener on the road. Rather than panicking or folding the Hoosiers finished the game on a 10-1 run and pulled out a 78-74 win against Memphis at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn.
The Hoosiers struggled offensively in the early moments, but broke opened a 38-11 run they rode to a win in the first regular season game on Friday against Howard.

Nov. 12, 2008, was a special day all around – for IU coach Tom Crean, for the five freshmen who signed their national letters of intent and IU basketball as a whole.
When the men’s basketball regular season tips off 8 p.m. Friday, few things will be the same as last season.
The IU women’s basketball team will travel to Memphis on Friday before returning to the friendly confines of Assembly Hall two days later for a matchup against IU-Purdue University Indianapolis – a 900-mile round-trip.
IU sophomore forward Lindsay Enterline and former IU player Leah Enterline both faced their share of drama while at IU.
IU guard Jamie Braun has set goals, such as playing the sport abroad and maybe even coaching in the future. However, for now, she is here, serving her women’s basketball team as the lone senior.
After losing a large portion of last year’s starters, the Hoosiers faced many questions at the end of the season. Who would replace the scoring and experience of players such as Amber Jackson, Kim Roberson and Whitney Thomas? Four fresh faces hope to provide that answer for the Hoosiers.
The IU women’s basketball team will have to overcome losing four players to graduation and a strong non-conference schedule to match its 21 wins from last season.
They walked off the court, their jerseys drenched as the wear on their faces faded the youth with which the season had begun.
Tom Pritchard started every game last season. Verdell Jones averaged 15.5 points in the team’s last 10 games. And in one game in particular, Matt Roth dropped 29 points on Ohio State in just 27 minutes.
There was only one senior on the men’s basketball team last year.
