'Schizophrenic' more like 'Nymphomaniac'

JC Chasez was diagnosed with the wrong disease. The former *NSYNC-er's recently-released solo debut, entitled Schizophrenic, should have hit stores with the more appropriate title of Nymphomaniac. There is an absurd amount of sexual innuendoes, most of which are downright funny considering JC used to run around wearing mouse-ears on "The Mickey Mouse Club" a decade ago.

On Ash Wednesday, Mel Gibson released what may be the most controversial film in decades, "The Passion of the Christ," a blockbuster recounting the final 12 hours of Jesus' life and his ultimate death on the cross. Another whodunnit, who cares

You are probably already familiar with the plotline of this film: cop gets promoted to Homicide division, bodies instantly start turning up, cop gets put on the case only to realize she knows all the victims, cop must fight her own demons and beat the odds to solve the case. That sums up the movie in a nice little package, only I may have made it sound better than it really was.

It's practically impossible for me to compress my range of reactions to Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" into a 400 word review. Garnering a massive amount of media coverage, Gibson's controversial film has become the archetype of the cliché: "There's no such thing as bad publicity."

"They give it to me." The sentiment works well. This isn't just a regular con movie; it's a clever and classy rendition of what could have been the same old song-and-dance.

Get Enthused! 'Curb' is changing the sitcom

The big TV networks have a big problem: the kiddies aren't gobbling up their sitcoms like the old days. Of the top ten shows (according to Nielsen Media during the week of Feb. 16-22), only two, "Friends" and "Everybody Loves Raymond" (both well past their prime) are situation comedies. The rest of the top ten is rounded out with both nights of "American Idol," drama series and reality shows.

He's Dave Chappelle, bitch!

If you have not yet had the chance to check out "Chappelle's Show" on Comedy Central, hop to it, bitches. Dave Chappelle's brilliantly offensive style of comedy reaches heights which few comedians dare to climb, touching on issues of race and poking fun at every ethnic group … even Rick James. The show is worth watching if only to see how far Comedy Central pushes the limits of what's acceptable for cable television, and no one does this better than Chappelle.

From Tron to Tyree, this DVD pleases me

With the Federal Communications Commission policing the content of television at extreme levels these days, it's amazing that Dave Chappelle's brilliantly racy sketch comedy series has lasted as long as it has. Comedy Central's wise decision to release season one of "Chappelle's Show" on DVD in uncensored form should delight Dave's fans while at the same time twisting Bill O'Reilly's skivvies in knots.

Frusciante finds clarity in the 'Shadows'

South Bend man sentenced to 175 years for group attack on woman SOUTH BEND -- A man was sentenced to 175 years in prison for his role in a group attack on a woman who was repeatedly raped, then shot by another man and left in a park wounded with a bullet in her head. Judge Roland W. Chamblee sentenced Terrease Nesbitt, 22, to 20 years each for rape and criminal deviate conduct, and to 50 years for the attempted murder of the woman.

Council discusses gay marriage

Davis to lead task force

Gov. Joe Kernan announced the creation of a new task force last week that will evaluate the efficiency of Indiana's military bases. Lt. Gov. Kathy Davis will spearhead the committee's initiatives, working closely with the Southern Indiana Business Alliance, as well as personnel at state bases. According to an executive order Kernan filed Feb. 20, the task force will primarily address the issues of improving existing infrastructure and engaging state universities, as well as the private sector for research projects.
