Some parting words

·

I've ordered my outrageously-priced graduation gear. I have made plans for the subsequent barbecue and festivities. Maybe I'll even break down and buy some IU apparel for when I'm feeling nostalgic for my days as a Hoosier. If things go well -- and I really hope they do -- I will even turn in my second-to-last paper today. Yes, this graduate student is ready to graduate -- again.

Time to lighten up

·

It's high time I confessed my sins and endeavored to right the wrongs I have committed. First, I'd like to apologize for the many glaring errors -- both factual and grammatical -- of which I have been guilty. Neither foreign leaders nor object-case pronouns have been spared the wrath of my ubiquitous thoughtlessness.

Fighting with photos

A picture is worth a thousand words, but the Pentagon doesn't want certain pictures to communicate even one word. Tuesday, after hundreds of government photographs of flag-draped coffins returning to Dover Air Force Base were released, the Defense Department ordered that no more photographs be released.

Kirkwood Av. life

·

The six blocks of Kirkwood Avenue between Bloomington's historic courthouse and the Indiana University campus form a vital link between campus and community. Bars, restaurants, theaters, churches and locally-owned businesses line the street and provide popular meeting places for students and Bloomington residents. From backpack-laden students who grasp cups of coffee in the morning, to packs of skateboarders, dog-walkers and vagabond musicians in the afternoon, to the stumbling, belligerent, fashion-conscious night owls, the street is a center of activity at nearly all hours of the day.

Get it together

·

This year I have watched more sports than in the last 19 years of my life combined. Hanging out with guys as much as I have, I learned to revolve my life around the sport of the season -- Monday Night Football, Baseball Tonight and the NBA playoffs have all taken up a considerable amount of my time.
