The Bloomington Police Department is currently investigating a death at 316 E. University St. Apt. 5, said BPD Sgt. and shift supervisor Tony Pope.\nDetective Sgt. David Drake said officers responded to a call about 10 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found 23-year-old Dawnette Shipley dead. \nDrake said at the time of her death, Shipley was visiting the male resident of the apartment. BPD does not yet know Shipley's home address.\nDrake said the investigation is still ongoing pending a report from the coroner, but at this time, it is not a murder investigation. \n"At this point in time, it's just a death investigation," he said. "We don't really have any reason to believe it was foul play. There were no indications of foul play, but we'll have to await a ruling from the coroner about the cause of death before we can completely rule that out."\nDrake would not speculate on a possible cause of death. \nHe said BPD will likely close the case if the coroner report finds no foul play in the cause of death. \n"That depends on what the coroner finds, but there were no indications at the scene that there was foul play," he said.\nHe said the resident of the apartment, whose name Drake would not release, returned home and found Shipley not breathing. Drake said the resident then called the police.\nDrake said the resident was questioned by police but later released.
