IU's production of centuries-old opera, 'The Mikado,' opens this weekend

IU Opera Theater is presenting Arthur Gilbert and W.S. Sullivan's Japanese-themed "The Mikado," or "The Town of Titipu," billed as one of the popular musical masterpieces ever written, at 8 p.m. beginning this weekend, July 28 and July 29, and ending next weekend, August 4 and 5, at the Musical Arts Center.

SEYMOUR, Ind. - Sniper shootings of two pickup trucks along Interstate 65 in southern Indiana early Sunday left one person dead and another injured, and state police said other vehicles also might have been targeted.

More than 1,000 people filled the seats of the IU Auditorium Saturday night, as the campus is hosting the 17th Annual leadership conference for Best Buddies, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing lives of people with intellectual disabilities.

Recent IU graduates prepare to 'ride the divide'

In about a month two IU graduates will begin an extreme off-road adventure called Expedition Cure, as the friends will attempt to drive the entire North American Continental Divide in 21 days to raise money and awareness for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
