United Nations takes over relief plans for tsunami victims in Asia

JAKARTA, Indonesia -- With health officials warning that the death toll from last month's tsunami could jump sharply without a continual supply of aid, world leaders struggled Thursday to figure out the best way to help victims -- and to prevent such a catastrophe from happening again.

The IU women's track and field team won't waste any time in 2005 as the team sprints into the beginning of the indoor season Saturday at home. The main mission this season is improvement. In 2004 the team finished fifth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships and seventh at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships.

Hoosiers split games over winter break

Over the past couple weeks the Indiana Hoosiers women's basketball squad has amassed a 2-2 record, improving their overall record to 7-5. The Hoosiers' pushed their winning streak to four right before the new year before dropping two straight games to Big Ten opponents.

IU contributes parts to 2009 Mars rover

A quarter of the instruments to be on NASA's 2009 Mars expedition have IU geologists behind them. The Mars Science Laboratory mission, part of NASA's Mars Exploration program, is scheduled to send a rover to Mars in 2009. It will arrive in 2010, and the handiwork of geologists David Bish and Juergen Schieber will be included on board.
