Exposing the FCC\nI am writing in response to the article "The Power of 23" by Jeff Alstott published Dec. 9. I must thank you for speaking out against the Federal Communication Commission and the so-called moral majority, taken in the form of the Parents Television Council, that seem to be the deciding factor in American values today. Thank you for showing Indiana Daily Student readers that the FCC is just a political tool being used by a minority of people to achieve their small-minded goals. I hope that you keep writing and I am looking forward to more articles from you.\nMark Blacklidge\nFreshman

Realize Davis' value\nWhoopeee!\nA one point victory over juggernaut Oral Roberts from the In-Continent, I mean Mid-Continent conference! We are so lucky to have Mike Davis as our coach. Tickets to the game are available so cheap on the Internet on www.razorgate.com that anyone can now go.\nPlease do not fire coach Mike Davis. It makes it so easy for those of us who never could have afforded to go to the games before to go now. Besides, when IU used to beat teams like Kentucky, North Carolina and Notre Dame, we were reviled by major media. Now, we can eke out victories against teams like Oral Roberts and Charlotte (oops, sorry, we lost by 1 point) and be loved by all the other non-IU alumni. That's the Christmas spirit! Keep Mike Davis for another 10 years ... PLEASE! Better yet, make him coach for life. That'll please the rest of the Big Ten universities and those guys in the ESPNZone.\nSam Wakim\nAlumnus\nMt. Blame the fans\nWho should be at fault for IU's losses at home this season? The players? No. The coaches? Maybe. The fans? Without a doubt. Assembly Hall has gone from a basketball temple that visiting teams would fear to merely "just another arena." Before the 2003-2004 season, IU gave up no more than two losses per season at Assembly Hall. Last year, the team dropped seven games at home! There has to be some logical explanation for such a change, and there is: The fans simply don't do enough for the home team. Sure, there are always plenty of students that are willing to construct witty costumes and paint their bodies in support of their team, but many don't even stand up or clap unless we score a big basket or Pat Ewing Jr. drops a monstrous dunk. And the alumni are even worse. IU hands out thousands of season tickets to those that financially support the school, who take the opportunity to sit on their asses and quietly support their Hoosiers. Is there any surprise that we're losing so many games now that the home team doesn't get the proper home team support? \nTake a look at the next Duke game in Durham, N.C. The Cameron Indoor Stadium seats 9,314 -- 8,000 fewer than IU -- yet the fans bring an uncanny amount of support for their Blue Devils. No wonder they're so consistently amazing.\nThere's a simple solution for this problem: Instead of giving IU alumni tickets to Indiana basketball, give football a try. That'll kill two birds with one stone: It fills the seats of the empty football stadium, and it leaves more seats open to the true die-hard fans of Hoosier basketball.\nTony Stroot\nSophomore
