Monroe County under tornado watch until 9 p.m. Tuesday
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch until 9 p.m. Tuesday for Monroe County and parts of Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. A tornado watch means that weather conditions are appropriate for a tornado to form, but no tornado has been observed. If a tornado is formed or imminent, the alert will be upgraded to a tornado warning. In the event of a tornado warning, residents should immediately seek shelter in the lowest floor of a sturdy building away from windows. The NWS forecasts scattered wind gusts of up to 70 mph and hail up to the size of a tennis ball are possible.
