State College, Penn — On the first drive of the second half, No. 24 IU football found themselves with a big decision. Trailing by only six points and the chance to take the lead, the Hoosiers faced a fourth-and-one from their own 40 yard-line.
No. 9 Penn State edged out No. 24 IU football 34-27 on Saturday in College Park, Pennsylvania in a competitive, back-and-forth battle with postseason implications on the line. Each team’s most dynamic playmakers, however, left the game with injuries before halftime.

IU Athletics announced Tuesday that redshirt freshman quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will miss the rest of the season due to an injury sustained last Saturday night against Northwestern.

Following the team’s seventh win of the season Saturday, IU football will be on its second bye week in preparation for its final three games before the postseason.
In IU football’s 34-3 win over Northwestern, sophomore running back Stevie Scott III rushed for 116 yards and had three total touchdowns. It was one of his best performances of the season and Monday afternoon, he earned recognition for it.
