Here's a link to a video shot by a member of the crowd during today's race of the final two laps in the men's race.
Pi Beta Phi won its first ever Little 500 in a sprint to the finish on the final lap. We will have a much better wrap soon. Here's the top 10 - to see more right now, check out the replay of the live chat in the post below.
The fact is simple: White teams dominate the men’s and women’s Little 500 fields. With an IU tradition on a predominately white campus that features a stereotypical white sport, it is little surprise the Black Student Union for many years held a picnic at the same time as the men’s race.
Three years ago, Hans Arnesen lapped the entire Little 500 field 39 laps into the race. His Alpha Tau Omega team cruised to victory in a historically dominating performance. And while his feat might be difficult to exceed, his sister, Sonja Arnesen, will try to extend the family’s legacy.
Clayton Feldman wants everyone to know he is not a townie. None of the Cutters are.
Two years. Two poles. Zero wins. And here we go again.
The Cutters are aiming to join an elite group with a third consecutive Little 500 victory Saturday.
On Saturday, Phi Delta Theta will try to be the first team to win the Little 500 from the pole position since Dodds House in 1998. No team from the front row has won since 2000.
Sean and I compiled what we consider the race favorites and dark horses for both the men's and women's Little 500 this weekend. Feel free to discuss...these are just some thoughts...
I'm glad tomorrow will be good and gone before the men's and women's Little 500 races. The 48 degree high temperature, rain shower forecast for Tuesday brings back memories of last year's men's race.
If Team Pursuit foreshadows the upcoming Little 500, then event winners Black Key Bulls and Kappa Delta might feel good about their chances.
In a 15-lap race to the finish line, Black Key Bulls led the entire way against the Cutters to take home the title of Team Pursuit Champions.Kappa Delta beat out Kappa Alpha Theta in a 12-lap battle for the victory on the women’s side.
It's one week before the big races, which means this Saturday is the Team Pursuit. This event pits two teams in opposite corners of the track, and it's basically a game of cat-and-mouse for the 15-lap (12 for women) race. Times are taken from each team's third-place rider, so this truly is a team event - communication and drafting plays a crucial role.
So with two events down and one to go in the spring series, here are the updated standings from the IUSF Web site. The points are scored like a cross-country meet - the lower the score the better.
Valentin Todorow of the Black Key Bulls posted videos of the men's and women's finals from yesterday's Miss N' Out. If words can't describe Kristi Hewitt's dominating performance, the video speaks for itself. Here are the links:
Wing It senior Kristi Hewitt set a new track record and the Cutters’ Eric Young posted the fastest men’s time.
Some notes from this evening's ITTs:
Quick update here. I'm trying to get my full wrap written for tomorrow's paper, as well...
The individual time trials open the spring racing series for the Little 500. The event, which begins at 4 p.m. today, features each rider in a four-lap race against the clock.
