The Indiana Daily Student

An indigenous woman from the town of San Gerardo, Ecuador, present her traditional handicrafts and chigras to a group of students from IU Southeast on June 12. IU alumnae Isabel Estevez and Erica Weyer helped the women form their own cooperative called Las Flores in fall 2008 in order to augment their meager income. The two graduates plan on continuing working on other development projects within the small Andean village in central Ecuador. Photo courtesy of Big Machine Records and Nathaniel Kenninger
