IU football columnist Ryan Winn got to spent the entire day Wednesday with the IU football squad, from position meetings to practice.

If you ask me--and I don't know that you would have--IU seems to have a perfect schedule. It has its share of challenges, it has what appear to be easy wins, and there is a ton of national exposure. It's too early to make the call on how good this year's squad will be, but it has the potential to be a fun year.

...but so does Duke. Kyrie Irving has long been on IU's radar, clearly Tom Crean's top target for the Class of 2010.
Candice Rohrman, an IDS reporter, went to Assembly Hall today to speak with four members of IU's 2009 recruiting class who were available for the first time to the media.
"Heading to Bloomington next week..." At least, that's what his Facebook status says. As of right now, he and Bawa Muniru still have not yet been declared eligible, so we'll be on the lookout for word on that. More to come.
Last week, I took a look at Austin Etherington's highlight film from Las Vegas and did a little bit of a scouting report for a column in last week's IDS.
It seems like recent developments on the IU football scene, including the North End Zone project, Pistol offense and optimism of players and coaches across the program, have Hoosier Nation hopeful for a better year on the field. The most recent issue of Sports Illustrated tells a different story. On page 104 of the Aug.
DE Jammie Kirlew was added to the watch list for the 2009 Chuck Bednarik Award today. The award is presented to the best college defensive player of the year. Of the 55 current players on the watch list, eight of those, including Kirlew, are from the Big Ten. The winner will be announced December 10.
Looks like all is well for one of the two recruits we've been waiting to hear news about. I saw Bawa Muniru at the HPER today playing pick-up with former Hoosier DJ White and several members of the basketball team.
Rakeem Christmas, arguably the top center in the Class of 2011, has narrowed down his school list to eight, which he announced through a press release.
Bill Lynch and his staff might never be as active as Tom Crean on Twitter, but they have joined several other IU programs with accounts on the Web site. Follow the team at www.twitter.com/HoosierFootball.
This is running in tomorrow's IDS, but I figured it would be good to get it as a post here, too. Thus far, coach Bill Lynch's recruiting class has risen to 21 prospects.
