The IU volleyball team had not taken a set from Penn State since November 2001. On Saturday, it came within a matter of points from winning two frames before the two-time defending national champions flexed their muscles. The Hoosiers (15-17, 4-14) ended their home season competitively against the No.
In a rivalry matchup with nothing more than pride on the line, Purdue appeared to want it more. The Boilermakers earned the Old Oaken Bucket with a 38-21 win over IU on Saturday. IU junior quarterback Ben Chappell was 23-39 for 266 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, while freshman running back Darius Willis led the way with 149 yards on the ground. Purdue was effective in the air with 205 yards and four touchdowns by Boilermaker quarterback Joey Elliot.

The IU volleyball team couldn't engineer a comeback to win for seniors Kelsey Hall and Whitney Thomas, falling to Ohio State in four sets for the second time this season. The Buckeyes (22-8, 10-7) took one step further to earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament by beating the Hoosiers (15-16, 4-13) by scores of 25-16, 25-20, 20-25 and 25-22. Hall, who was honored with her parents before the match along with Thomas and senior trainer Meghan Chambers, powered the Hoosiers offensively, earning 13 kills in her penultimate match inside University Gym. She was one of the few bright spots for her team, however. IU started the match out of sync.
If it weren't for Facebook, would we ever have any fun? As I sat watching DirecTV with a bag of Doritos like a good sports journalist, I stumbled across a video of IU coach Bill Lynch in a commercial for IUgear.com.
No, that score above isn't the Celtics and the Pacers (plus the Pacers actually just beat the Celtics a week or so ago). We'll see how the team responds, and surely it is still early in the season.
If you were hoping to get a ticket for the student section on game day, your luck has officially run out. From IU Athletics: The student section for tomorrow's Old Oaken Bucket game is officially sold out.

The headline should have said "IU revives burial of 'Ole Jawn Purdue' Today" and not what was in the paper as "IU recieves burial of 'Ole Jawn Purdue' on Saturday. The burial will take place at 5:30 today by the Devault Alumni Center, the Hoosier Village area on 17th and Woodlawn.
