Down 6-3 heading into the 9th inning Tuesday afternoon against Jacksonville St. (11-4), head coach Tracy Smith knew his Hoosiers (11-5) would make the most of their final three outs.

"(JSU) goes out and gets three runs at the top of the ninth in a tie ball game. I think a lot of teams would've packed it in," Smith said. "We didn't do that. We found a way to extend the ball game and found a way to win."

After junior Matt Serfling and freshman Dustin DeMuth reached on singles, IU was the benefactors of two Gamecocks errors that led to a 6-6 tie before the Hoosiers won it in the 10th inning 7-6.

IU's comeback victory over the Gamecocks followed up an impressive 9-2 win on Monday over the Pittsburgh Panthers (8-4).

With the score tied 2-2 in the top of the eighth inning, the Hoosiers broke the floodgates open thanks to a 3-run double by junior Alex Dickerson.

Senior T.C. Knipp finished the day 4 for 5 at the plate with 3 runs and 2 RBI's. Sophomores Micah Johnson and Casey Smith, along with freshman Dustin DeMuth each had a pair of hits as IU finished the day with 15.

Making the second start of his collegiate career, freshman Brian Korte went the distance for the first complete game for any IU pitcher this season. After walking 2 batters in 4 innings in his first start against Bradley, Korte didn't walk a single Panther batter while scattering 9 hits.

The Hoosiers will close out their eight games in eight days road trip with games against Massachusetts, Bucknell, Army and Dartmouth.
