Scenarios

The Hoosiers will finish 6th in the conference no matter what they do against Michigan on Sunday. This means they will play on Thursday at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis against the No. 11 seed.

Elsewhere in the Big Ten on Sunday

Purdue at Michigan State, Illinois at Minnesota, Iowa at Northwestern, and Penn State at Ohio State.

If Hoosiers win Sunday

Hoosiers finish season at (18-9, 11-7). With the Michigan loss and probably a Northwestern loss against Iowa both the Gophers and Wildcats finish 3-15 in the conference. Head-to head they are even so the tie breaker then looks at opponents in the conference a team has beat. Since Northwestern has beat Minnesota, and the best team Michigan has beat is Wisconsin, Northwestern would have the edge, dropping Michigan to the 11th spot. That means the Hoosiers would have a rematch against Michigan next Thursday.

If Hoosiers lose Sunday

Hoosiers finish season at (17-10, 10-8) which is the same record in the conference as last year. Michigan would finish 4-13 in the conference. A likely Northwestern loss would drop them to 3-15. In that case the Hoosiers would play Northwestern on Thursday for the third time this season. Of course if Northwestern and Michigan win they would go to 4-14. Then it would depend on what happens to Illinois (4-13 current record). Illinois has a tough road game against Minnesota and might loose that. In that case Northwestern I believe would be in the 9 spot, Illinois in the 10 spot, and Michigan in the 11 spot.

Confused yet? Thoughts? I probably got something wrong. We will sort this out after the results are in tomorrow.
