Our friends over at the Herald-Times are reporting that a source familiar with the situation confirmed that the NCAA will put IU on three years probation later today, but nothing further. This decision will bring to a close a process that began over a year ago and has taken its share of unexpected -- and expected -- turns since.
Three years probation is a relatively light penalty compared with what some IU fans were expecting. Worst-case scenarios included further loss of scholarships and any postseason ban, although it seems unlikely the Hoosiers will play for the postseason this year.
We'll have more on this for you later this afternoon. For now, feel free to sound off about the NCCA's decision, and where IU can go from here.
