I missed this during Little 5 weekend, but IU has posted an opening for Director of Basketball Operations, a position formerly held by Dan Dakich. This likely means Dakich will not be a part of Tom Crean's staff this coming season. This hardly comes as a surprise after the rumored strained relationship between Dakich and some players.
In his updated contract after becoming the interim coach, Dakich will be employed by the Athletic Department if he wants to stay in Bloomington. IU AD Rick Greenspan said following Crean's introductory press conference that he would help Dakich find a new job if that was the path Dakich chose to pursue.
So update those resumes and maybe you can become the next Director of Basketball Operations. Joking aside, IU is just following the law about posting a job for so many days. The smart money is that they have already agreed in principal with a candidate. We'll keep you updated as we hear more.
