With Kellen Lewis and Curtis Painter - The Co-Big Ten Leaders in passing touchdowns this year - slinging the ball around Saturday and with the aforementioned big play receivers, a shut down cornerback is going to be key for both Indiana and Purdue. Both teams have one, senior cornerback Tracy Porter for the Hoosiers, and Terrell Vinson for the Boilermakers.
Tracy Porter: Porter is fourth on the team with 70 tackles, 52 of them solo's. In addition, Porter has one sack, two fumble recoveries and six interceptions. The six picks are first in the conference this year. Arguable the most consistent Hoosier this season, Porter also contributes on special teams. He is the punt returner as well a the gunner on punt coverage.
Terrell Vinson: Vinson leads the Boilermakers with 75 tackles, 57 solo's. He also has two sacks to his name and one forced fumble. Vinson is tied for second in the conference with five interceptions. Like Porter, the senior Vinson has been responsible for covering the opposing teams best threat at receiver and is likely the defensive MVP for the Boilermakers.
The two have remarkable similar numbers heading into the Bucket game. They're both seniors and leaders of their respective defenses.
