Some quick facts about IU's homecoming foe...some are probably important, others are probably useless. I'll let you decide.

* The Nittany Lions score an average of 32.7 points a game and give up an average of 12.7

* Their last two games they've been dominant. Beating Iowa 27-7 and beating Wisconsin 38-7.

* The middle quarters are their favorites. They've outscored opponents 71-7 in the second quarter and 72-6 in the third. I'm not really sure what to make of that other than it's impressive.

* This will be by far the least populated game they've played in all year. Even if there is a good crowd by IU standards. All but one of their games have been played in front of over 100,000 people. That game was at U of I, where the attendance was marked as 57,078.

*They're o-2 on the road this year. Losing at Illinois and at Michigan.

*Joe Paterno has been head coach for 42 YEARS!!!! Outside of IU Coach Bill Lynch and assistant head coach Gerald Brown, none of the other members of the IU coaching staff were born before Paterno took over at PSU. I really can't get over how amazing that is. I don't think a coach will ever match his tenure again. In fact, I double dog dare anyone to find an alumni coming in this weekend who remembers Penn State without Joe Paterno as head coach. Its probably impossible.

That's all I got. But again, covering IU all year has prevented me from really watching a lot of the rest of the conference. The few times I did get to see them I noticed they have a few studs on offense (#2 Derrick Williams, #22 Evan Royster) and a few on defense (#48 Maurice Evans #7 Anthony Scirrotto.) But i'm sure there are things about them that I may have missed. What do you make of the Nittany Lions?
