The following is a press release written by Kevin Nadrowski for GM Bedford.

Today, on behalf of GM Corporate Citizenship, GM Bedford Casting Operations presented its latest Community Impact Grants (CIG) to Bedford-area nonprofits, reaffirming its support for the local community and organizations serving residents. This year’s $100,000 grant supports two local nonprofits focused on STEAM education and road safety initiatives.

Through the CIG program, GM facility leaders selected area nonprofits that help meet local needs, expand access to resources, and strengthen the community GM Bedford Casting Operations is proud to call home.

“Our Community Impact Grants allow us to support nonprofit organizations that are creating positive, meaningful change for people and families throughout Bedford,” said Elisha Huddleston, plant director at GM Bedford Casting Operations. “With more than 84 years of history in this community, GM is proud to help strengthen the place our employees and neighbors call home.”

In 2026, GM will distribute $5 million to 42 hometown communities across 16 states, supporting locally driven solutions shaped by employee nominations, volunteerism, and giving. Including today’s grant, GM has awarded $370,000 in community impact grants to Bedford-area nonprofits since 2021.

The 2026 Bedford-area grant recipients will support a variety of programs under STEAM and road safety. This year's recipients are:

  • Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County
  • Drive Clean Indiana

Now in its 16th year, the CIG program provides support to eligible nonprofits across GM’s U.S. manufacturing communities. GM Bedford remains committed to supporting area nonprofit partners and investing in the local community.
