The following is a press release written by Desiree DeMolina for the City of Bloomington.
The Council for Community Accessibility announces its annual celebration, Gather ‘round the Table, and invites people with disabilities, their advocates, and the public to come together for a meal and community conversation from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, at The Mill, 642 N. Madison Street.
This year, the event’s theme, Disability Life Hacks, highlights the tips, tricks, technologies, and mindsets that help people adapt to a new or changing disability. Guests should expect a panel discussion and small-group conversations with each of the panelists. Food will be provided, courtesy of Texas Roadhouse.
Panelists are Lily Blackwell (Mobile Integrated Health Unit), Misty Kienzynski (National Federation of the Blind), Haley Spencer (HasTech Technology Solutions), Dayna Thompson (Alzheimer’s & Dementia Outreach & Resources), and Karin Willison (Mobility Aids Lending Library).
This event is free and open to the public. Registrations are open at tinyurl.com/GatherRSVP2026 until 5 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026. The Council for Community Accessibility is a volunteer group that partners with the City to improve access to public spaces, share community input, and support programs that benefit residents with disabilities. The Council was founded in 1990 to advise the City of Bloomington on implementing the ADA, which became federal law that year.
