After landing two recruits over the weekend, Indiana football continues to build its 2027 class. The Hoosiers secured a commitment from three-star wide receiver Branden Sharpe, which he announced during a livestream on Rivals’ YouTube channel Monday.
Sharpe is ranked as the No. 79 receiver in the 2027 cycle and the 13th-best player in Indiana, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. The Brownsburg, Indiana, native is the Hoosiers’ sixth 2027 addition and their first receiver commit.
After appearing in just two games as a high school freshman at Brownsburg High School, Sharpe broke out during his 2024 sophomore season. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound receiver hauled in 66 catches for 1,165 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. As a junior in 2025, Sharpe caught 59 passes for 1,143 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
Sharpe played an integral role in helping the Bulldogs to an Indiana High School Athletic Association 6A championship. He totaled 151 yards and a touchdown through the air, leading Brownsburg to a 38-31 title game victory over Westfield High School on Nov. 29, 2025.
Indiana secured Sharpe’s commitment over the University of Cincinnati, Purdue and Vanderbilt University. His decision comes before scheduled visits to each program, including a trip to Bloomington on May 29.
Sharpe joins five other players in the 2027 class: offensive linemen Jeremiah Jones and Mason McDermott, safety Garyon Hobbs, quarterback Jameson Purcell and cornerback Rico Jackson. Former Indiana commit and athlete Monsanna Torbert Jr. reopened his recruitment Monday.
