Indiana men’s basketball junior guard Jasai Miles intends to enter the transfer portal, per 247Sports’ Travis Branham. The former University of North Florida transfer spent just one season in Bloomington.
Miles appeared in 26 games for the Hoosiers this past season, averaging 1.6 points and 1.9 rebounds per game off the bench. He was part of first-year head coach Darian DeVries’ 10th-ranked transfer portal class that rebuilt the roster after former head coach Mike Woodson’s departure.
In his sophomore season at North Florida, Miles was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference Third Team after averaging 15.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. His season was highlighted by a 30-point effort against Georgia Southern University in December 2024.
After a season as North Florida’s leading scorer, Miles failed to reach double digits in his Indiana career. The Miami native’s season high scoring effort was a six-point performance in Indiana’s win over the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Nov. 12. However, he earned an uptick in minutes as the season went on due to his tenacity.
“He's doing a good job. His roles continue to expand here. He's coming in, giving us good energy,” DeVries said postgame after Miles played a season-high 24 minutes in the Hoosiers’ win over Wisconsin on Feb. 7. “That length and athleticism, ability to rebound, that's something down the stretch we're going to continue to use.”
Miles is the second Hoosier who plans to depart the program after junior guard Jason Drake did so Wednesday. Meanwhile, freshman forward Trent Sisley is returning to the program.
In DeVries’ first season at the helm, the Cream and Crimson finished 10th in the Big Ten and missed the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. With six graduating seniors and just three freshman commits, DeVries will need to once again look to the transfer portal to replenish crucial production. The portal is set to officially open Tuesday, following the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament on Monday night.
